Program Name MSc in Computer Engineering
Justification The program is relevant to address the technology gap in development and technology transfer related to special-purpose and high performance computer systems, including disciplines related with the technological innovation, such as nanotechnology and microtechnology; The program was created in response to the lack of specialists to meet the technological needs of industries and strategic sectors essential for modern economic development.
Goals Prepare high level human resources capable of developing advanced computer systems to strengthen creativity and technological innovation, working in a spirit of leadership in solving engineering problems involving design, analysis and implementation of devices and systems processes.
Prospective Students Graduates from the computer, electrical and electronic engineering, as well as all professionals interested in acquiring new knowledge in the fields of: nanotechnology and microtechnology, hardware and software, as well as joint use of these innovative disciplines to solve new challenges in the field of engineering.

Relevant Aspects The Research Computing Center CIC has a highly qualified faculty, most of them belong to the Mexican National Researchers System.

Master in Science students may carry out a research stay from 3 to 6 months in national or foreign institutions, complementing the research of the thesis.

The Research Computing Center CIC has a specialized library with more than 12,000 titles, with access to the most important databases of electronic books and journals, the Center also publishes the journal “Computación y Sistemas” recognized in the Mexican Scientific Research and Technology Journal Index.

The Research Computing Center CIC has adequate facilities and modern laboratories equipped, it also has the cooperation and support of the Center for Nanoscience and Micro and Nanotechnology of IPN in Mexico.

Collaboration with other institutions In the USA (University of Oklahoma, San Diego Supercomputer Center, University of California), in Spain (Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, Universidad de Cartagena, Universidad de Cantabria, Universidad Complutence de Madrid, Barcelona Supercomputing Center), with the European Union (Freie University of Berlin, Moscow Lomonosov University and partner universities in the Alfa Network), in Chile (Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile).

Business enterprise: Intel, Microsoft, LACCIR; SANDIA; Mosis, MINATEC, Petróleos Mexicanos (PEMEX), Sistema de Transporte Colectivo Metro, Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo IMP, among others.

Admission Criteria To be admitted as a student, an applicant must:

1. Possess professional qualification degree.

2. To approve the admission process of the Center for Computing Research.

3. Submit two proficiency test of English language skills through nationally or internationally recognized examinations.

4. Cover the applicable tuition and fees.
